Construction Shirts

for a couple weeks now, tegan is adamant about wearing only construction wear. his bulldozer shirt, tractor shirt, digger shirt. to bed. to play. to eat. you might notice that tractor shirt in most of the blog photos.

We have a huge drawer of shirts that he won't wear. Who knew he only needed 3 shirts to rotate.

The Little Gardener

We've been doing some gardening lately to prepare for moving out of our house. we are propagating hydrangeas and lavendar and moving hostas. Tegan is a good helper and loves to play along.

4th of July and Fire Engines

The highlight of our 4th of July was getting to sit in a real Fire Engine. At the downtown Bellevue Park, they had a big party and the fire department let us check things out. Tegan also asked some girls while playing "How's it goin'". our little flirt.

Pony Rides

We live by the only equestrian state park west of the mississippi - Bridle Trails State Park. Every year they have a fundraiser "Party in the Park". We went this year! Tegan loved the pony rides. he went on 4 rides. He rode Casper, Babe and Oliver. The look on his face when the pony started moving was priceless!! If you are reading this and you live here, please come to the party next year!

Tegan the Talker

I should be keeping track of some of the funny things Tegan says. He has some new ones.

to daddy before he leaves for work "thanks for coming over!"

"tall drip in a grande cup" clearly learned at starbucks *blush* . I'm going to have him start ordering for me.

"I no like tomatoes"

"August is on a diet. Henry only eats dog food."

"I need a haircut"

"trav, phones ringing, trav"

"Aha! I found my phone"

"where is my phone?"

"the tractor shirt is in the drier"

"how's logan doing?" he said this when I told him M&M were with logan. I told him logan's doing good.

"max is sleeping. Madeleine is sad" madeleine was sad we were leaving her house.

"look at all the dog hair!"

"mommy, do you need to vacuum?"

"daddy do you need a popcicle?"

"I'd like a grilled cheese sandwich please"

Cannon Beach

We try to go to Cannon Beach each year at least once. We were married there, on the beach. We have lots of special memories from there.

This year we stayed with our good friends Erik and Kim, and their 3 munchkins.

The chef in action

showing his cutting skills
eating his creation, mac and cheese, broccoli, hot dogs, mushrooms

Everyone thinks their kid is cute, gifted, amazing, etc. We think Tegan is a natural chef. He has always loved playing with the kitchen. We have 3 play stoves for him. He learned the words; Boiling, Strainer, pasta, and spatula at a very early age. He's gifted. Yes, I think so. If I let him watch TV, he could sit and watch Rachel Ray for hours. He keeps me on my toes in the kitchen. He lets me know when water is boiling, to put the lid on, time to get the strainer...yada yada yada.

Today I let him use his plastic knives to help me cut things. I don't know why I didn't think of it before. At Art class, I heard the teacher say they use plastic cutlery in the little chefs class, and they cut about everything. So we tried it. A HUGE hit. Tegan is a big helper normally, but this takes it to a new level. He was so into it.

I was going to post a video, but I cannot get it to work!!

Boats, Buses and Beaches

Father's day was brilliant. It was so sunny and cheery. We decided to head to the waterfront and catch the Alki Water Taxi. A mere $3 for adults. We wanted to get to that big beach over in West Seattle! When we arrived, we realized...whoa. the beach is sort of far away. No worries though, a little Metro bus was waiting to take us to Alki Point. We jumped on and managed to convince the driver that our hugemongo wagon would fit. it did. we rode to the point, for free with our $3 boat ride. It was a long way considering we thought that we could walk there. Upon arriving at Alki, we were transported into a vacation dream land. shops, sun, scanitily clad people, snacks. It was GREAT! we went to the beach and layed out our blanket. I brought a ton of supplies in that wagon! we had a little picnic, looked at rocks and then headed for some ice cream. Back on the bus and then the boat and we arrived in downtown seattle to walk to our car. This felt like a HUGE adventure and of course, I cannot wait to take our friends the Meyers on it next time!
